Remember George Brett And The “Pine Tar” Game?

July 24, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Well, it happened 25 years ago today.

Brett didn’t realize how enraged he looked until viewing the tape. “I remember saying, ‘If they call me out for having too much pine tar, I’ll run out there and kill one of those sons of bitches,” Brett said. “Actually, when I ran out of the dugout I had no idea I looked like that. When I saw my reaction I said, ‘You’ve got to be (kidding) me.’

If You Have Been Waiting For A Story About A Five-Year-Old Boy Winding Up In A Hooters Parking Lot

July 24, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Your wait is over.

Employees of Hooters found the child safe about 5:20 p.m. He left the child care center in the 2300 block of San Jacinto Boulevard, crossed the Interstate 35E northbound service road and Dallas Drive, bought a soft drink at a service station and walked to Hooters, where an employee found him in the parking lot and called police.

Deborah Pugh, who owns the child care business, said Wednesday that the boy asked to go to the bathroom and then slipped out a fire exit door, which must, by law, remain unlocked.

“It was just really fast,” Pugh said. “When the parent came for him we said he was in the bathroom. But we looked and realized he wasn’t, and we called police.”

If You Try To Sneak A Dwarf Through Airline Security

July 24, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Expect bad things to happen.

Employees at Bromma airport called police when the dwarf hopped out of the suitcase at the check-in counter.

Police soon found that it was a stunt being filmed by a hidden camera for a program on private TV network Kanal 5.

Police spokesman Mats Eriksson says airport staff decided against filing charges even though they were “shocked and humiliated” by Wednesday’s stunt.

Kanal 5 spokesman Dan Panas told Swedish news agency TT that the show was meant to be “provocative and entertaining.”

Wow! A Pet Rabbit That Is Useful!

July 24, 2008 · 1 Comment

It appears as though an Australian family’s pet rabbit alerted them to the fact their house was on fire and was able to save them.

Neighbours pitched in with hoses to save the house before four fire crews arrived to extinguish the blaze.

Six days from completing a painstaking two-year renovation, the couple was stunned but relieved to have escaped the fire without injury.

Wife Michelle said Rabbit had alerted them in the nick of time.

“We were both asleep. It was very lucky for both of us,” she said.

Rabbit is usually happy to roam around the house, only locked in a cage when guests arrive, she said.

“He’s just sort of an inside pet but I don’t think he was very impressed,” Mrs Finn said.

“We’ve been renovating for two years – we started with a disaster, and now this.

“All that hard work gone.”

A jewellery-maker, Michelle’s tools and jewels were also lost in the fire.

If A Criminal Snatches Your Grandmother’s Purse

July 24, 2008 · 2 Comments

Just hope Granny is not the grandmother of an Olympic Sprinter.

Without a thought for her own safety Mrs Williamson sprinted after the woman, believed to be in her early 20s, and managed to catch her.

The furious pensioner then shook her attacker in front of fellow shoppers in Edmonton, north London. The thief dropped the purse and escaped.

Mrs Williamson said: “She must have thought I was an easy touch because I’m elderly.

“When she took my purse I had to do something so I ran after her and grabbed her as hard as I could. She said she hadn’t taken it at first, so I shook the life out of her until she finally gave it back.”

Olympic hopeful Mr Williamson, 22, said: “It’s typical of her as she stands up for everyone else, so it’s no surprise she stood up for herself.

“She can be very friendly but also pretty scary when she wants to be – you wouldn’t have wanted to be the thief.

“And there’s no controlling her – you just have to stand back and hope she’s alright as she doesn’t think about the consequences.”
