If You Were Wondering What Vladimir Putin Is Doing With Russian Gymnasts

April 17, 2008 · Leave a Comment

You are not alone.

It seems the President is rumored to be affectionate with one young lass who happens to be the reigning Rhythmic Gymnastics champion. Is it true? Who knows? Who cares? But look at who he is rumored to be hanging around with:

Yes, Miss Kabaeva has taken off her clothes for a magazine, but poses tastefully wrapped in a fur rug. Her modesty is protected by lingerie in other shots. All the same, Ruth Kelly she ain’t.

But how did Mr Putin actually get to know Miss Kabaeva?

One of Russia’s most popular beauties, she is the reigning Olympic rhythmic gymnastic champion and global darling of the sport.

She is said to be blessed with ‘extreme flexibility’ and practically unbeatable when performing ‘on the carpet’ – to use a gymnastic term.

Iraq Must Be Safer Than The American Media Lets On

April 17, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I mean, if this is what the police are concerned about, I guess terrorism is no longer problem #1.

Later this month, traffic police officers all over Iraq will start issuing tickets to any scofflaw who drives without buckling up. Violators will be fined 15,000 dinars — about $12.50.

“It is part of the healing process of this country and of Baghdad to enforce the law, law by law,” said Brig. Gen. Zuhair Abada Mraweh, traffic commander for the capital’s Rusafah district.

Some might say there are more pressing issues, such as car bombs that can turn a morning commute into a nightmare of blood and body parts, daily killings and kidnappings, political and sectarian infighting.

Or that enforcing the seat belt law might not be an adequate solution in a city where traffic rarely moves above a crawl, checkpoints are ubiquitous, roads are often blocked, and it is not uncommon to see a vehicle charging down a street in the wrong direction.

Still, brigades of traffic officers trying valiantly to do their jobs have been a constant in an ever-changing landscape of war and chaos over the last five years. And as traffic police officers warned Baghdad drivers earlier this week that seat belt enforcement was about to begin, many drivers said it was probably a good thing.

What’s next? Dragging people in for spitting on the sidewalk?

If You Are A Cursing Romanian Well Digger

April 17, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Stop making obscene calls!

The 24-year-old man, who lives in a village in southern Romania, was identified in February and fined $223 in April after a checkup showed he was mentally sound, said Daniela Salaoru, police spokeswoman for Ialomita county police.

Police did not identify the caller. But the Evenimentul Zilei newspaper said he was a well-digger, and reported that he called the 112 emergency number from November to January to swear at the operators. He used a prepaid mobile phone, which does not immediately make it possible to identify the caller.

The newspaper said he denied he was the culprit. It reported that his mother said he was a loner and that she saw him talking on the phone a lot, but did not know with whom.

If You Want To See How The Left Is Reacting To Senator Obama Actually Being Asked A Tough Question

April 17, 2008 · 2 Comments

Cuffy has the rundown.
I have noticed a trend every time Obama is questioned or satirized: freak out and more freak out, in the hopes that those even daring to ask a question or even have a laugh at a public figure* will grow weary of the backlash and just let Obama skate.

*And I laugh at the outrage by many on the left at the “Saturday Night Live” skits aimed at Obama. Many of the people attacking “SNL” are the same ones who have lauded Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart, Al Franken, Bill Maher, Randi Rhodes, David Letterman, and Jay Leno (to name a few) for their use of “satire” when savaging President Bush. Go figure that they are hypocrites.
